A Local Example: Valhalla Pure
One of the first businesses in Squamish to lead the way was Valhalla Pure. In 2005, founder Murray Sovereign established an endowment fund through the Squamish Community Foundation, committing a portion of profits back to the community.
The Valhalla Fund supports outdoor recreation and environmental initiatives—helping fund projects like the Atl’ka7tsem/Howe Sound Marine Stewardship’s “Searching for Slhawt’ Project.”
Through the Foundation’s Annual Grants Program, this project received support to advance research and community engagement—strengthening local environmental stewardship and deepening community connection to the land and water.
It’s a powerful example of how one business can spark lasting change.
