From neighbourhood block parties to community gardens and cultural events, there are many ways to build a thriving community. The Neighbourhood Small Grants (NSG) program is based on a simple, but powerful idea—that everyone is a valuable member of the community and that we all have something to share.

The NSG program launched as a pilot project in 2017 by the Squamish Community Foundation (SCF) with support from the Vancouver Foundation and the District of Squamish. Individuals of any age can apply for a grant of up to $500 for projects that bring people together, share skills and knowledge, build a sense of belonging and respect, and celebrate diversity.

Since its launch, the Squamish NSG program has funded almost 200 neighbourhood projects that nurture our community. While the grant program has been highly successful, the pilot funding has come to an end.

SCF is now seeking support from local donors to help us continue this funding for years to come.

How you can help:

  • Donate via Canada Helps. Select ‘Neighbourhood Small Grants Fund’.
  • Donate via cheque, cash, or e-transfer to donate@squamishfoundation.com. Specify that the donation is for the NSG fund.
